High Risk Feet
What are high risk feet?
High risk feet are those more susceptible to complications such as ulceration, infection, or poor healing, often due to underlying conditions like diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, or neuropathy. These feet require careful monitoring and proactive care to prevent serious problems.
Some factors that can place feet at higher risk include:
- Diabetes: Reduced sensation and circulation can increase the risk of ulcers and infections.
- Peripheral vascular disease: Poor blood flow can slow healing and increase susceptibility to injury.
- Neuropathy: Loss of sensation can make it harder to notice cuts, pressure areas, or developing problems.
- Previous ulcers or foot deformities: These can increase pressure points and the likelihood of recurrence.
At Essex Podiatry Clinics, we focus on prevention and early intervention for high risk feet. Our care may include advanced vascular tests, regular foot assessments, education on self-care, pressure relief strategies, custom orthotics, nail and skin care, and advice on appropriate footwear. By managing risk factors proactively, we aim to prevent ulceration and maintain foot health.
If you have high risk feet or are concerned about foot complications, book an assessment with one of our podiatrists, and we will create a personalised plan to protect your feet and prevent future problems.
